I'm curious, when you were asked to do a demo for a Service Meeting part, how did the request make you feel?
by Stand for Pure Worship indid you decline out of fear?
decline because you hated doing demos?
accept the request graciously?

Did you decline out of fear? Decline because you hated doing demos? Say yes even though you didn't want to do it? Accept the request graciously? Etc. I'm curious because like Walter White being the one that knocks, I'm the one that calls a sister or two on a Monday night and requests that they do a demo. Plenty of JWs won't tell you how they feel about doing demos, only telling you what they think you might want to hear. Figure I'd ask the question here.

If the GB reinstated the Book study, would it take?
by BU2B ini have been noticing in recent threads that people have been observing that the zeal has been waning among r+f jws.
i have observed that most zealous, die hards have gone to foreign lands, or foreign language congregations, leaving the others in the stagnant english congregations.
when you think of it, if you cared at all about bringing people into the cult, you probably would be preaching where it is fertile, the foreign field.

SFPW, might I remind you that Judas was also a fan of the practical application of money. Sometimes it pays to celebrate, to give due honour.
lol, cretin I'll be then I guess.

Have you ever scared the crap out of someone?
by Nathan Natas inthe recent thread about "supernatural" experiences helped me to remember the times i enjoyed playing frightening pranks on people.. example #1: years ago the employees at a place i worked for had a 40th birthday party for one of the women we worked with.
it was a typical "somber and dark" humorous party with black balloons, black candles on the birthday cake... all meant to suggest that at 40 ife as you know it is just about over.
it's funny, but 25 years after my 40th birthday i'm yearning for those days when things were better.. ...but i digress.

I used to frighten one of my directors by quietly standing at her doorway waiting for her to notice me. Like clockwork, when she'd look up from her desk or away from her monitor, and see me standing there, she'd jump. Then she'd laugh or be slightly annoyed. We get along quite well, I kinda dig her too, and as a result I got too comfortable, callous even, and pulled this stunt just one too many times. I did it on a Saturday when she didn't expect anyone to linger back to where her office was. She got startled, started crying, cursed a little bit, and stormed out of there. I felt so bad about that. I mean on one hand, she could have had me fired, or at the least HR could have penalized me in some kind of way. That wasnt really my concern though as I just felt bad for making her cry. All Saturday and Sunday that was on my mind. Monday I apologized in person, and in my own twisted sense of fate, I sent an emailed apology in case she wanted to burn me with evidence which I would have had coming to me. She accepted it, and explained she was stressed at that particular moment. We've since moved on from that incident and get along great as if it never happened. I'll never do anything like that again though.

Lol Ajustments, I've been to my fair share of Service Meetings, have done quite a few of the YB parts although admittedly I've never read one in its entirety. Just not my type of hype when it comes to reading material. Not really into propaganda. You know I don't usually do this for people who are so much more intellectually superior than me, but I decided to dust off my 2012 YB. Low and behold I turned to page 18, where it states that 12 JWs lost their lives, 5 were seriously injured, and 2 were still missing as a result of the earthquake in Japan on 3/11/2011. But the WT doesn't talk about tragedies affecting JWs, right.
By the way, I like how you only saw what you wanted to see in my comment about why the tragedy in Mexico might not be mentioned in next year's YB. Here I'll paste it for you.
"To be fair, I don't see why something like this would ever be mentioned in the YB considering the typical format of the book unless next year's book has a chapter on Mexico."
As Yadda mentioned, they may very well touch on this tragedy, especially if Mexico is one of the countries selected to examine in next year's YB. But as I mentioned previously they have posted tragedies affecting JWs in times past. They may not do a 10 minute audience discussion part on it during the Service Meeting, but I wouldn't say they're hiding the story either. Besides, with a tragedy like this who would want t o discuss it at the Service Meeting anyway?

Jeff beat me to it, but Heb 13:7 comes to mind, although I think its funny that this verse is used more to make the case for following the instructions by attendants than the counsel given by elders. I guess it's because it's already a given as to whom are the alpha dogs within the congregation are. 1 Tim 5:17 comes to mind as well as it mentions elders deserve double honor. This thread really emphasizes that elders only have as much power over you as you let them have.

Thinking of taking a break from this forum
by yadda yadda 2 instarting to feel my time is wasted on here lately and its time to move on.. some of the best, meaty stuff only gets a few hundreds views and as soon as the posts dry up a bit the thread is soon forgotten (usually in a few days) under the constantly falling snowflakes of new threads (many trival) continuously being created and popping up as 'active topics'.
the same core jw related subjects then keep reappearing over and over again as new threads without getting a thorough treatment at the time (eg, there must be at least one 'are jw's a cult' thread started each week on here; 'new light' topics get about 20 new threads started with the quality of analysis spread and diluted over all of them.).
anyone else tend to feel the same way at times?.

Well, Yadda, if that's the case, then there's no reason for you to stop posting. 300 something views? Within those three hundred views, I imagine most were fellow posters, but I'm sure there were lurkers amongst them as well. If even it were only one lurker that took the time to see your point, wouldn't that still be a success? What would you say if I told you that I ended up coming across this message board after Googling something about JWs that bothered me which ended up being the subject of a thread here that only lasted one page? That one obscure thread that I can't even remember who posted it or what it was about, ended up hooking me on this forum. That said, so what if your threads dont go three and four pages full of comments. I'm sure a lurker appreciated something you posted of value in response to one of my apologetic posts.
